The Rite of Christian Initiation is for all those who would like to become Catholic and have reached the age of reason. In children, the age of reason is generally acknowledged to be around the age of 7. Children who have not been baptized are invited to join us on Tuesday nights from 6:30-7:30 in the church library (in the Canticle Building). Here they will be encouraged to ask questions, learn about the Catholic faith, and prepare to be initiated into the Catholic Church.
The Rite of Christian Initiation is a ceremony that is typically celebrated during the Easter Vigil, after a year's (sometimes longer) preparation. All three Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist) are received at this time. This full initiation into the Catholic Church is merely the beginning of a lifelong journey to learn and witness to their faith.
